quilling

                      INTRODUCTION
Hello!! I am Shivangi Acharya and this is my sis Sadhika Acharya. We  are also known as the Acharya Sisters.
We both love art and craft so we decided to make a blog to showcase our masterpieces.

QUILLING

What is Quilling?
Quilling  is an art  form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is then glued at the tip and these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork.

WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS REQUIRED?

  • paper strips
  • quil (quilling needle)
  • Glue
  • paper(for gluing the strips on them)
PROCEDURE

  • Decide what you want to make and make a rough sketch of it.
  • Take the strips and tear them according to your need.Insert one end of the strip in the slot of the quil and start wounding the strip around it.
  • Once done, remove the strip(now called the coil).if you want a bigger coil you can loosen the strip by holding it between your fingers and gradually loosening your grip.If  you want a tight roll then just tug at the end and glue them.Glue the ends of your coil.
  • make more coils of various shapes and sizes.
  • Finally glue these coils on the paper according to your design.
Here are some ideas that you can do if you are a beginner.

And if you think that you have got the hang of it,you can try these

And once you have mastered this art, there is no end.
Though yes, quilling requires patience, imagination and time.
Right now, both of us are working on quilling portraits of Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. So it should be done by a month from now.

OIL PASTEL DRAWINGS

Oil pastel paintings are fun  and easy to make. It's always best to spread newspaper your workspace before attempting any drawing as oil pastels are hard to remove from flooring especially wooden flooring.
